Need help with sight and optics - Vid posted
Hi guys

I have a few questions on my new CMMG MOD4 SA piston. I have installed sights (promag) on front and rear and am considering adding a short eotech to co-witness, but I have a few questions, please see vid:

Any help would be appreciated. If you could post any recommendations and advice here on the forum after viewing the video instead of leaving comments on the vid that would be great, thanks.

I would turn the front around, back is correct.
Front sight tool helps, but you can use a bullet tip to depress the detent and then turn the sight post.

From the ProMag website,

The PM138 front sight body and stem are machined from T6 aircraft grade aluminum and type III hard anodized. Steel parts are machined, then black phosphated per mil-spec. Precision machined to fit dovetailed gas blocks meeting MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail specifications. The sight is mounted to the gas block via a locking bar and secured with a cross slotted, knurled thumb screw. The sight is adjustable for elevation, (a quarter turn) moving the point of impact 1.25” MOA (minute of angle) at 100 yards. The front sight features straight protective ears. The sight’s stem folds up and towards the shooter to deploy. When in the up position the sight is locked in place via a spring loaded plunger. To fold the sight to the down position, depress the plunger and fold the sight stem forward. No permanent modification required for installation. All hardware included. The PM138 sight may be paired with model PM136, PM137, PM200 PM202 rear sights mounted to AR-15 / M16 flat top A3 upper receiver rifles and carbines.

Thats the way I originally had it but it looked wrong. So I turned it around, I already read that part on their website but I dont think it is correct.

I have a Midwest Industries gas block mounted flip up and it also stows to the front.

They just plain look wrong folding toward the front.

It's funny you say that.
The first time I posted a pic of that setup on another gun board I got 4 PM's saying I had it mounted backwards.
I don't care for it either but it works.

Hey Ogre

Can you post a pic, also, soooo, I have my rear sight facing the correct way, right?? Thanks in advance, guess I will turn it back around, lol.

Your rear sight is correct.

Wow, that does look backwards.... But if it is right, it is right...

405boy- 12-22-2009

Wow, thanks for posting that pic. I guess we all learned something on this thread, lol.

Your rear sight is correct.

Thats pretty much the same setup with optics I want, although, eotech does have that midget scope, what are your thoughts on it?

Can't speak about the smaller ones. I only have experience with the 512.
But what I can say is this 512 has been flawless.
