So many choices makes a decision hard...
Trying to decide on a scope for my S.308-ver.21, every time I go to pull the trigger I get major second thoughts.
Just looking for some input. The above scopes are what I'm debating.
Primarily shooting 100-455 yards, but would like to be able to go out 600+ yards.

Probably mount on either a 'BP-02 low profile, centered, side mount', or 'Texas Weapons Systems Dog Leg scope rail' with 'Burris Xtreme Tactical low (1/4") rings'.

Texas Weapons Systems Dog Leg scope rail. I have been trying to figure out where I could find that rail for almost a year now.

There are four that I'm aware of...

TWS dog leg

Krebs Custom Kalashnikov Rear Sight Rail (KRSR) System,

DPH has two styles of their Beryl rail,

Somehow I knew the Krebs would be super expensive. Do you know whats up w/ the cost of the Krebs compared to the other two? Is it that much better?

ChileRelleno- 07-25-2010

It is, as with most Krebs products, very well designed and constructed.
His reputation allows him to demand top dollar, however, I for one ain't coughing up $300+S/H for it.

I happily shelled out for a set of Krebs Combat Shotgun ghost rings, and they're worth every penny... But I think the BP-02 or TWS. will serve just as well for much less money.

Sounds like it to me. I like the use of the take-down pin in the Krebs but like you said $300 is a lot of money.

No experience with the other scopes but I have a Millet. While it is great for my use it wouldn't be my first choice on for reaching out to 600 yards with.

Nope, not a first choice, but, after using Annette's Millet DMS, I can vouch for it reaching out to 455 yards very easily, another 145 yards shouldn't be too much off a problem unless dealing with windage.
No, it is not a precision target scope, but it'd do just fine for Minute of Man/pie plate.

Wayneard3413- 07-26-2010

Oh without a doubt it can get the job done it just depends on what level of accuracy you are striving for.

4x is enough to help get shots on a man sized target but it is going to take more than that for proper identification or the ability to make a low percentage shot.

Again I do dig the Millet though. It's great for my use as a short/mid-range optic when wanting a bit of magnification.

Decision made.

OK... Pulled the trigger.

Spent some time talking to the peeps at OpticsTalk.com, making a nuisance of myself, with enough questions to make my chatterbox 4yr'ol seem like a deaf mute.

Have a 'Vortex Viper 2-7x32mm Dead Hold BDC reticle', with Butler Creek lens caps, on it's way.
These and other 'Vortex Viper' scopes are on sale at SWFA.

On the same order I've .75" Burris 1" Xtreme Tactical rings coming.

And so I can have my cake and eat it too... A new TWS dog leg rail will soon arrive.
...................................................................

I went with Vortex for numerous reasons.

I compared Leupold, Bushnell, Nikon, Burris, Millet, Sightron & Vortex... All the Optics Gurus and Reviews pointed to Vortex.

I already use their 'StrikeFire' red dot on my AR... Only better RDS, is AimPoint.

Customer service is f'ing fantastic (personal experience)... No competition.

No Questions Asked- Fully Transferable - Unlimited Lifetime Warranty... No competition

And they are at least toe to toe, and in many cases a step ahead, of their competition in Quality.
